Course Description

Building Sustainable Employment: Behavior-Analytic Strategies for Job Fit, Workplace Learning, and Independence is a 1.0 General CEU course designed to help BCBAs apply behavior-analytic principles to meaningful and sustainable employment support. The course moves beyond simply obtaining a job by examining the interaction between worker skills and preferences, job demands, and workplace conditions. Participants will explore direct vocational assessment, systematic job matching, task analysis and workplace instruction, prompting and reinforcement, generalization, self-management, and data-based support fading. The course also addresses how to analyze changes in workplace performance using function-informed, person-centered strategies that prioritize dignity, autonomy, and the least intrusive level of support necessary for long-term employment success.

What You'll Learn

By the end of this course, participants will be able to conduct direct vocational assessments of worker skills, preferences, support needs, and relevant workplace conditions; systematically compare potential employment opportunities using job-match criteria; design workplace instruction using task analysis, prompting, reinforcement, feedback, and self-management strategies; develop data-based plans for transferring stimulus control to natural workplace cues and fading employment supports; and analyze workplace performance challenges to select individualized, dignified, and function-informed interventions that promote independence and sustainable employment.
